In NATION OF SHAMELESSNESS, our narrator is fifteen-year-old Jim Crane. Jim lives in the border town of Xetum. In the book, he is a timid boy who desperately attempts to impress others through speechifying. His hands are perpetually covered with imaginary crumbs and foodstuffs. And his big, freckled face is perpetually anxious.
